Cybersecurity, Class of 2020

Security Analyst at Kaspersky Lab

Moscow, Russia

"The specialized cybersecurity program at KIAT provided me with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are essential in the rapidly evolving field of information security."

Cybersecurity was always my passion, and KIAT offered one of the best programs in Central Asia. The dedicated cybersecurity lab and regular participation in international hacking competitions gave me hands-on experience in identifying and mitigating security threats. After graduation, I joined Kaspersky Lab, where I analyze emerging cyber threats and develop protection strategies. I'm proud to be part of a team that helps protect individuals and organizations worldwide.

My interest in cybersecurity began when I was in high school and read about major data breaches in the news. I was fascinated by the technical aspects of these incidents and the importance of protecting sensitive information. When I learned about KIAT's specialized cybersecurity program, I knew it was the right path for me.

The program at KIAT was comprehensive, covering everything from network security and cryptography to ethical hacking and digital forensics. What set it apart was the emphasis on practical skills. In the dedicated cybersecurity lab, we worked with the same tools and techniques used by professionals in the field.

One of the highlights of my time at KIAT was participating in international cybersecurity competitions. These events simulated real-world scenarios where we had to defend systems against attacks or identify vulnerabilities in software. These experiences were not only educational but also helped me build a network of contacts in the cybersecurity community.

After graduating from KIAT, I was recruited by Kaspersky Lab, one of the world's leading cybersecurity companies. As a Security Analyst, I monitor and analyze emerging threats, develop detection methods, and contribute to the company's threat intelligence reports. The work is challenging and constantly evolving, which makes it both demanding and rewarding.

The foundation I received at KIAT has been invaluable in my career. The technical skills, analytical thinking, and ethical considerations I learned have helped me navigate the complex world of cybersecurity. I'm grateful for the professors who shared their knowledge and experience, and for the university's commitment to providing cutting-edge education in this critical field.

To students interested in cybersecurity, I would emphasize the importance of continuous learning. The field evolves rapidly, with new threats and technologies emerging regularly. The education you receive at KIAT will provide a strong foundation, but a commitment to lifelong learning is essential for a successful career in cybersecurity.
